Ramins journey to the UK was long and tiresome. After a 5 month journey, he finally made it the Dover, but only after hanging to the underside of a lorry for 4 hours.

By tracking his path across Europe, we can see the extent of his journey and the two danger points he had to overcome, via boat passage and the English Channel crossing, to find safety.

Ramin is now living in Manchester and I had the pleasure of meeting him at a night shelter in Longsight.

This work was inspired by Nishat Awans methodology of mapping and information sharing

Using the method of mapping, we can start to understand the migration paths of the people interviewed throughout this project. Interestingly, by noting on the conditions of each camp and settlement, we can begin to see what improvements need to be made from first hand experience.

After interviewing refugees from abroad, I wanted to bring this back to England and have a conversation with someone who has made the journey to the UK.

After visiting an event organised by Boaz Trust, who host nightly events in churches around Manchester for refugees, I met Ramin who openly shared his story with me. His name has been changed for confidentially, however he was happy for me to use his story.
